The Jean Harris Mainous Memorial Music Scholarship $500
Jean Harris Mainous grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her mother was her first piano teacher at age four. Jean’s love of music and life led her to Louisiana State University’s School of Music on a piano and violin scholarship. After graduation, she attended the Yale School of Music to receive her masters, then continued on to Julliard to study piano. Jean studied to become a renown accompanist. She traveled with world-class singer, Charles Nelson for many years internationally as his accompanist. She was the accompanist for the North Texas Children’s Choir for five years. This scholarship was established in 2012 in her memory. The Jean Harris Mainous Memorial Music Scholarship is awarded annually to a former North Texas Children’s Choir member who excels in music, leadership, and service.

The Carol B. Hyatt Math, Science,or Business Scholarship $500
Carol Hyatt was an economics teacher at Denton High School for 15 years, and in 2007 was named Texas Economics Teacher of the Year. This is a college scholarship awarded to former North Texas Children’s Choir members who excel in math, science, or business leadership and service.

The Gore Family Music Maker Scholarship $500
Richard and Karen Gore own and operated their family music business, started in Denton in 1972 by Richard’s dad Harold. The Gore family has actively encouraged and inspired students and teachers for almost 50 years. The Gore Family Music – Makers Scholarship will be awarded to former North Texas Children’s Choir members seeking traditional and non-traditional higher education music opportunities.

The Bob Sharp "True Grit" Scholarship
Bob Sharp was a farmer and rancher who not only loved cattle and farming, but he also loved music. As mayor of his community, he planted many seeds for growth and development. His children participated in musical opportunities in the community and in public schools, kindergarten through college. The Bob Sharp “True Grit” Scholarship is a need-based partialtuition Texas Youth Chorale scholarship.

Brennan Mohler NTCC Participation Scholarship
Teacher initates and applies on behalf of the singer
This scholarship is given in loving memory of Brennan Mohler who was a member of the NTCC at Hightower Elementary. He loved Mrs. Keen and the NTCC. Students considered should be qualified for Free or Reduced Lunch, or have a crisis in their family such as loss of job or some other critical change in their family finances. This scholarship awards $50 per singer with a Teacher Recommendation.
