The Texas Youth Chorale is much like a select sport; you pay a tuition, attend choir practice once a week, and then perform. All TYC members are former NTCC members. There are exceptions, but very few. TYC auditions are in early March after the NTCC Festival Concert at the Meyerson Symphony Center.
There is an audition packet that must be downloaded from our website. The completed forms must be brought to the audition. In the audition packet you will find personal and school information, as well as Teacher Recommendation, Parent Letter, and Singer Letter. There is also a copy of “God Bless America” which is your audition piece.
The audition or skill assessment is very similar to the NTCC audition or assessment. The TYC audition is held at our rehearsal site and is one day only. Sign up is on the website. Heavy weight is given to the singer’s skills/talent and teacher recommendation.
The TYC monthly tuition is $95 for our 9-month season. Rehearsal is once a week. There are three formal performances: Legacy Gala in October, Christmas Concert in November, and Farewell Concert in June. TYC opens the North Texas Children’s Choir Festival with the National Anthem. TYC also performs the National Anthem or God Bless America for the Texas Legends and the Rough Riders games during the Spring semester.
The TYC also tours annually. Every third year there is an international trip. Otherwise we tour within the United States.
